I have been using buttermilk, (storebought) for many years in breads and other baking . It is great for tenderizing meat also. I put it I n gravies then cook the browned meat in it on a low simmer. Really helps those tough cuts of meat, good flavor from from gravy also. Started using vinegar with milk about 20 years ago when I ran out of store bought buttermilk. Thank for the other buttermilk recipes too. Will have to try those as well. Been following you for several years. Great recipes!!!

My mom when I was a little girl used buttermilk for everything, even to drink. I'm not sure how she made it I was 6 or 7 yrs old. But I know first thing 5 or 6 am she would go milk the cow and she would skim off the top layer of the warm milk pour a glass of milk put in it in a bowl and then she would get the vinegar and add it to the milk, And whisk And whisk she would chill it to drink it and leave it sit our if she was getting ready to make biscuits.. but all is your recipes sound wonderful. I'm 61 now, And I appreciate All your recipes and tips. Thank you so much
