2 - 8 ounce packages of cream cheese (softened at room temperature)
2 whole apples (peeled and small diced. I used Fuji apples, but you could use whatever kind you like)
2 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar or coconut sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 small pinch of grated nutmeg (optional)
1 small pinch of ground ginger (optional)
1 small pinch of salt
Bagels for spreading cream cheese on (if desired)
Steps
1. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees F. In a baking dish, add the chopped apples and all the spices. Mix so that all apple are coated. Place in the oven for 30 minutes, until apples are tender.
2. Let apples cool for 15 minutes. Place apples into a food processor and mix for about 20 seconds, scraping down the sides if needed.
3. In a large bowl, add both packages of cream cheese and apple mixture. Mix cream cheese and apples together using an electric mixture until combined. Enjoy on a toasted bagel or with a spoon!
