Nick on 2025-11-02 (2 stars): This recipe tastes fresh, but it lacks flavor. Definitely needs more spices, garlic, and peppers. Not my favorite salsa recipe. I will not make this one again.
Side note: the website would not let me rate any less than five stars. I would give this salsa a two-star rating.
David Burch on 2025-09-13 (5 stars): This was just what I needed! Tastes so fresh. Thank you for this recipe. Of course I may add more or less for my taste. I always like making the recipe as posted. Honestly, I would take this to an event that called for a great salsa. Personally for me, I will warm it up some. 5 stars!!!
Steve Heger on 2025-08-16 (5 stars): I just made this and it is amazing ! I had a lot of tomatoes that I needed to get used up. So I made 3 batches and gave pint jars to friends and family. The same results- everyone absolutely loved it. This recipe goes in recipe box permanently! Thank you so much for this amazing fresh salsa recipe!
Maggie on 2025-04-29 (5 stars): I just used this recipe, and it's delicious! I tweaked a bit here and there, for a little more heat, a bit more lime, but this is a great recipe to make your own salsa! Make sure you use fresh cilantro. Yum!
DS on 2025-04-03 (5 stars): Great recipe. Much better, and fresher, than store bought salsa. I used beefsteak tomatoes which are already pretty sweet. Passed on the canned toms. Used brown sugar, and added a little Frank's buffalo wings sauce. Also added some ground corinader seeds.
Kimberly on 2025-03-29 (5 stars): This is perfect! Just adjust to suit your tastes. I go easy on the cilantro and up the cumin, chili powder, and salt. I am not a fan of prepared salsas because I think the vinegar ruins them. I was surprised that this never got watery over three days in the fridge. Thanks so much! This will be making a regular appearance at our tailgates and gatherings.
Angela Nielsen on 2025-02-11 (5 stars): Absolutely the best basic recipe - allows for all kind of tweaks; spice it up or tone it down; all works with this recipe as a base. You can be as adventurous as you care to be. Main thing is to keep tasting as you go & give it a final taste check to see if it needs adjustment. I think that's a pretty basic requisite to all cooking.
I use my homegrown frozen chopped tomatoes in the winter and my own fresh ones in the summer . Any variety of tomato is fabulous in this recipe. Homegrown tomatillos are great to switch it up a whole lot as do my homegrown jalapenos & cilantro which have kept growing inside over the winter. Nothing like homegrown for amazing flavour but this recipe works really well with store bought too. In my experience store bought tomatoes can require a bit more sugar to make up the sweetness of fresh homegrown.
Tracy on 2025-02-07 (1 stars): Very bland ! Tried adding things to give it a taste and nope. Wouldn't make it again.
