Steps
Add both the white granulated sugar and the cornstarch to the food processor or blender. Replace the lid and blend away. After a while the sugar crystals will get finer and finer.
Keep blending and checking the sugar until it becomes powdery. I generally alternate between high speed and medium speed every 30 seconds, but that doesn't really matter. There you have it, homemade powdered sugar.
Use this homemade powdered sugar just like you would storebought. Enjoy!

Kara on 2020-06-13 (5 stars): Used it in a cookie recipe that called for powdered sugar, and they turned out great. It will be handy for those times I don't realize till the last minute that I'm out of powdered sugar and don't want to run to the store!
Kimberly on 2020-06-13 (5 stars): Awesome! There have been so many times I've needed powdered sugar and was out of it - so happy I can make my own now!
Lisalia on 2020-06-13 (5 stars): Wow! Who knew that I could make my own powdered sugar. It was so easy and turned out just like store bought. Thanks for this recipe!
Teresa on 2020-05-16 (5 stars): This is so good to know. I'm allergic to cornstarch and often have difficulty finding a powdered sugar with another type of starch. So, question, I could use this recipe and just swap in tapioca starch, right? Do you think I could use potato starch? I already have a bag of that in my pantry.
